Şehmus Burak İLHAN, Control and Automation Engineering-Senior student at Yıldız Technical University began to work part-time after his internship in SEW-EURORDRIVE. He shared his experiences of part-time work with us:

Which differences did you notice when you have begun to work part-time after your internship at SEW-EURODRIVE?

I gained many experiences on didactic modules during my internship. I could create my own scenarios or the application engineers gave me different task-scenarios. When I have started to work part-time, I began to communicate to customers additionally.

I had experiences in the field. I learned to work with a discipline and stick to it. I had the chance to observe industrial improvements. I began to play an active role in customer projects and take responsibilities like having personal contact to the customers and helping the application engineers technically.

I could improve my technical skills and communication and presentation skills by making presentations also.

Do you think that your current job in application department does suit you?

I am working as application engineer. I had an Interest in this field during my internship and after I had worked as part-time worker, I had the chance to see the processes better. I had many experiences in projects from project planning to start up and I saw that this job is exactly what I was looking for.

How would you explain part-time work at SEW-EURODRIVE?

I am working 3 days per week, which I chose according to my university program. Thanks to my managers I had an easy time during my exams. I am working as a part of a team right now because of that it is very important to have the support of my colleagues. I think that I fit in with this environment well since my internship.

What changed your job at SEW-EURODRIVE generally in your life?

I can tell that my sense of responsibility improves. There are many tasks and deadlines. When I tried to meet deadlines, I improved my time management skills in my personal life too.

I could say that earned money certainly gives you more self-confidence.

What are the interesting sides of part-time work in your opinion?

Just graduating from university is no longer enough to get a job that suits you best. Having a part-time job provides you the opportunity to gain real work experiences and helps you to figure out what you really want to do with your career. You gain sector experiences and with all that, you can start your career one-step ahead.
