SEW-EURODRIVE is the right place to start an internship.

Şehmus Burak İLHAN, Control and Automation Engineering-Senior student at Yıldız Technical University, speaks about his internship experiences in SEW-EURODRIVE Turkey:

Why did you want to do internship in SEW-EURODRIVE?

Because of my engineering major, I was looking for an internship opportunity in a company that is active on motion systems. After searching it on Google, I found out that SEW-EURODRIVE is one of the most important companies in this field. I was impressed with their mobile robotics solutions on the web site, which was also the subject of my thesis. Back then, we were informed about Industry 4.0

at Yıldız Technical University. Because of that, their solutions in Industry 4.0 got my attention.

The most important factors on my decision to do internship in SEW-EURODRIVE are their corporate identity and successfully projects in automation.

In which departments did you work during your internship? Could you tell us about your internship experiences?

I did my internship in application department. First, I learned the products of didactics and then I worked on a MOVIDRIVE-B didactic and had easy tasks such as motor driving, positioning and speed control.

Could you give examples of your duties with your managers together? How was their management approach?

Once I had the chance to play an active role in a customer project. The scope of the project was about choosing a mod for driving motors so that the users could switch the modes with the help of set up systems.

From beginning to the completion of the project, my managers gave me very satisfying answers to all my questions and the opportunity to take responsibility on a project. In this project, I worked on PLC code.

I thank to my managers for encouraging me to ask questions and their tutorial help.

Could you tell about your internship application?

After exploring the web site, I had decided to do internship in SEW-EURDRIVE and I send an E-mail with my CV attached to the E-mail address of SEW.

We had made an appointment for interview and after that, I received a positive answer. So I began my 30 day-internship.

Did you think that you have chosen the right place for your internship?

I find that internship is relevant to practice your knowledge gained in college. You can learn it by doing and make it permanent. In this way SEW-EURODRIVE is the right place to start an internship because they provide support to improve students’ performances

and technical capabilities with their didactic modules, real applications in their showroom and many more within the concept “Drive Academy”. Because of that, I think I made the right decision.

Are you willing to work in SEW-EURODRIVE after your graduation?

According to my experiences i can tell that SEW is active in areas that I interested in, you can make effective works because of the working atmosphere and you can take responsibilities. Yes, I would like to work in SEW-EURODRIVE.

Do you recommend an internship in SEW-EURODRIVE to other students?

I think that the student of mechatronics, control and automation could get the most out of it. SEW is a great place to observe the working life, to play an active role in projects, to build good working relationships with the colleagues

and to transfer of knowledge and skills thanks to the experts. Because of that I could recommend an internship in SEW to all students; especially to the student in the third year of university so that they can corroborate their education with experiences.
